JoJo Simmons is a multi-faceted entertainer and entrepreneur whose last name rings bells in the music industry. As the son of legendary rapper Rev Run of Run DMC, he spent his teenage years starring on MTV’s hit show Run’s House which ran from 2005-2009 and landed him a NAACP award for outstanding reality series. He is currently the star of Growing Up Hip Hop, in its seventh season on WETV.

 

Following his family’s humanitarian legacy, JoJo serves as an ambassador for the Last Prisoner Project, a non-profit dedicated to freeing the tens of thousands of individuals still unjustly imprisoned for non-violent cannabis crimes. He has also been lending hais voice to amplify the message of organizations like the Cannabis Voter Project, which informs, registers and turns out voters who are interested in cannabis policy, and Backline which connects music industry professionals and their families with a trusted network of mental health and wellness providers. In 2023, the Black Mental Health Alliance awarded JoJo The Phoenix Arising Award, recognizing him as an advocate and who has dedicated himself to assuring the black community has access to proper mental health resources.

When he is not spreading positivity and motivation to his 550,000 social media followers, JoJo enjoys spending his time with his family. He is a proud husband and an attentive father of two.
